Dostoevsky's audiobooks tops lists of most popular Russian writers abroad

The works of Fyodor Dostoevsky, translated into audiobook format, topped the list of the works of Russian writers most demanded by foreign listeners. According to the Storytel book service, Lev Tolstoy and Mikhail Bulgakov are also among the top 3, TASS reports.

The data from 20 countries were analyzed while compiling the ranking. In addition to the works of these writers, the works of Nikolai Gogol and contemporary author Dmitry Glukhovsky are popular with foreign listeners.

Fiction took the second place in the list of the most popular literary genres in the outgoing year. The list was headed by detectives, and children's books were also in the top three. According to the study, Russian readers most often listen to the works of Boris Akunin, Stephen King and other popular authors.
