Representatives of more than 50 states learned about the Russian Sputnik V vaccine at a presentation held the day before, on December 2, at the UN, TASS reports. The Russian drug was presented to the international community online. In addition to representatives from India, Egypt, Qatar, Algeria, Singapore, Azerbaijan and other countries, among the participants were representatives of the leadership of the UN, WHO, Red Cross and other international organizations.

According to Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), Sputnik V is cheaper than other drugs. A single dose will cost less than ten dollars, he said. The head of the RDIF promised that the price of the vaccine would be the same for all countries.

Health Minister Mikhail Murashko added that Moscow was going to increase vaccine production at both Russian and foreign enterprises. The head of the department added that the tests at the post-registration stage have already covered 40,000 people. They are held in Russia, Belarus, India, the UAE and Venezuela. The start of mass production is approaching, the minister explained. According to him, Sputnik V demonstrated "a powerful immune and antibody response."

Murashko clarified that vaccine trials are still underway, but today the number of vaccinated Russians in risk groups has already exceeded 100,000 people. RDIF has applied for drug approval in 40 countries. Kirill Dmitriev is sure that when making decisions, it is important not to be guided by political motives.

RDIF will consider supplying the vaccine for export when Russian demand is met. Already, applications for the purchase of more than a billion doses of the drug have come from more than 50 countries.

Representative of the UN Secretary General Stefan Dujarrick noted that Russia is the only country that offered the drug to the organization's employees free of charge. He is also confident that as soon as the vaccine is available, Antonio Guterres will definitely use it.
