The "From Field Marshal Suvorov to Tsar Alexander I" conference took place this weekend in Verona. The organizers of the large-scale event were the Russian House Association and the Veneto - Russia Cultural Association.

The meeting opened with a speech by Dmitry Shtodin, head of the Russian Consulate General in Milan. He noted that the event is of great importance for the development of relations between Russia and Italy, it is aimed at strengthening relations in the field of culture and history.

Dariya Pushkova, head of the Rossotrudnichestvo office in Rome, sent her greetings to the conference participants.

Forum participants from both Russia and Italy presented to the audience exclusive reports on the events of the Verona Congress of 1822 with new, interesting information previously unknown to the general public. They enriched knowledge about the history of relations between Russia and Italy.

As Russkiy Mir reported earlier, last week marked the 290th anniversary of the birth of the great Russian commander, Generalissimo Alexander Suvorov. He went down in Russian and world history as a commander who participated in seven major wars and did not lose any of his sixty battles.

The conference participants recalled that a year ago the meeting was dedicated to the 220th anniversary of Suvorov's Italian campaign. A descendant of the commander Sergei Leontyev spoke at the conference.
