The geographic dictation will begin on November 29, according to the Russian Education website. This is the 6th time the Russian Geographical Society has been holding this large-scale educational campaign. It will unite all the continents of the planet, except Antarctica. After the end of the face-to-face campaign, its online version will be available for another week.

The organizers note that the restrictions aimed at preventing the spread of the coronavirus pandemic could not but affect the conduct of the action. In particular, Lomonosov Moscow State University are not hosting the action this year. All participants are invited to answer questions remotely.

About 5,000 people will receive individual links. They will be greeted by the hosts, and questions will be asked by famous cultural figures.

The dictation will be written by the head of the Russian Geographical Society, the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Sergei Shoigu. The dictation consists of 40 questions. These can be both questions on the knowledge of well-known facts from geography, and tasks requiring the use of imaginative thinking, logic and erudition. For the first time this year, the organizers proposed the fans of the dication to send in their own questions. Participants from 9 to 83 years old from Russia and abroad sent 430 assignments. Almost 20 of them entered the final version.

The results will be published on January, 15.

The first georgaphical dictation took place in 2015. Participants answered questions about Russian geography. Earlier, a number of dictation questions related to literature; the participants were also required to know not only geography, but the history of Russia as well.
