G20 leaders join forces to build sustainable future after pandemic

Leading the world towards a confident, sustainable and balanced future after the coronavirus pandemic is the main task for G20 leaders. This is stated in the declaration adopted at the G20 summit, which ended on the eve of November 22, the website of the President of the Russian Federation reports.

The authors of the document promised that they will continue to provide support to all developing countries. They especially need it when faced with the consequences of COVID-19 in the field of health, in other social and economic spheres. G20 leaders recognized that there are special challenges in African and small developing countries on the islands.

Summit attendees also pledged to promote the fair distribution of COVID-19 drugs and tests around the world. They supported a moratorium on debt payments by the world's poorest countries until the end of June next year.

In their opinion, the recovery of the world economy has already begun, but the process is proceeding very unevenly, it remains at a high risk of recession.

Countries have pledged to continue to apply all available policy instruments for as long as the need arises to protect lives, jobs and income. They called on development banks to step up efforts to help the poorest countries overcome the crisis.

Supporting a multi-vector trading system remains as important today as ever. The parties strive to implement the creation of a free, fair, inclusive, non-discriminatory, transparent, predictable, stable trade and investment environment, as well as keep the borders open, the authors of the resolution emphasize.

According to Russian President Vladimir Putin, Russia is ready to provide countries in need with vaccines to protect against coronavirus infection. He called the scale of the problems faced by humanity in the current year unprecedented. The pandemic claimed hundreds of thousands of lives and seriously disrupted the growth of national economies, millions of people lost their income.
