Russian humanitarian aid will help North Korea cope with the aftermath of natural disasters that hit the country in late summer and early autumn. According to the spokesman for the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova, gratuitous food supplies will allow the friendly DPRK people to overcome the devastating consequences of typhoons, the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry reports.

The representative of the foreign ministry added that Moscow continued to provide humanitarian assistance to the DPRK. Wheat supplies were recently completed, North Korea received 50,000 tons of grain, Maria Zakharova explained. The Korean side has already explained that Russian food would be sent to residents of the most affected regions.

In the summer, torrential rains fell on the Korean Peninsula for several days, then a typhoon passed through the DPRK. At the end of August, some provinces of the country were damaged by another typhoon. In September, the next typhoon caused widespread destruction and loss of life.
