Russian ambassador proposed to hold cross years with Turkey in technology and trade

New cross years between Russia and Turkey were proposed by Russian Ambassador Alexei Yerkhov, TASS reports. He recalled that not so long ago the Year of Culture and Tourism ended. According to him, now it is worth uniting the two countries with a program in the field of trade and technology.

In an interview given by the diplomat to one of the Turkish newspapers, he noted that today cooperation between entrepreneurs, holding various exhibitions that can be organized in the virtual space, does not lose its relevance.

The ambassador took the initiative to declare 2021 and 2022 as cross-cutting years in the field of trade and technology. He expressed confidence that it was time to think about which areas were promising and how to actively use new platforms.

The Cross Year of Culture and Tourism opened on April 8, 2019 in Moscow, and closed on January 8, 2020 in Istanbul. Over the past year, exhibitions, screenings of plays and films, concerts and educational events have been organized on the territory of the two states. In particular, the Festival of Classical Music with the participation of Vladimir Spivakov and other famous musicians, the Winter International Art Festival of Yuri Bashmet, and the Jazz Festival with the participation of Igor Butman took place. The main national theatrical event of the year was the special program of the Golden Mask festival, held within the framework of the Istanbul International Festival.
