The Total Dictation action is being held today, October 17, TASS reports. This year, the educational campaign has undergone some changes. For the first time, it had to be postponed to a later date due to the unfavorable epidemiological situation.

In addition, a new format was developed specifically for the current campaign. Participants are asked to write the text at home by hand, and then send it for review. This requires a special pen and a letterhead. They had to be obtained in advance. Olga Rebkovets, the head of the Total Dictation Foundation, explained that no marks would be given for “homework”.

Face-to-face sites are organized in 546 Russian and 207 foreign cities and towns. Almost 70 countries will join the Total Dictation action.

St. Petersburg is the capital of the action this year. It is from there that Andrey Gelasimov will read an excerpt from his text titled Per Aspera. According to the author, he did not at all strive to make the text as complex as possible. The writer wanted to tell the story of Konstantin Tsiolkovsky, his character. The dictation consists of four parts; it briefly reflects the entire life of the founder of rocketry.

Among the "dictators" are also TV presenter Yana Churikova, critic Galina Yuzefovich and Viktor Shalai, who heads the Arsenyev Primorsky United Museum.

The organizers note that this year it will be possible to write all four parts, since the dictation will be held in the format of a marathon.

Due to the threat of the spread of coronavirus, many regions have decided to abandon the offline campaign or have reduced the number of on-site sites.
