Gagarin Day, dedicated to Yuri Gagarin and other Soviet cosmonauts, was held in Erfurt, Germany, organized by the Gagarin Society. Families of Russian compatriots living in Germany walked through the Gagarin places of the city and completed events in a Russian restaurant at the charlotte pie festival, Russkoye Pole reports.

Erfurt, which Yuri Gagarin visited in the autumn of 1963, has several places associated with the name of the first cosmonaut. The longest street in the city is named after Gagarin; in 1986, a monument to the cosmonaut was erected on it.

Yuri Gagarin and Valentina Tereshkova are captured on one of the bas-reliefs telling about the history of Thuringia and Erfurt. Images of Gagarin can be found on the buildings of the city.

A group of participants in the Gagarin Day visited memorable places, during the walk, children and adults were told about Yuri Gagarin, the first flight into space, the exploits of Russian cosmonauts and scientists. Poems by Russian poets dedicated to autumn were also recited.
