Festival in India dedicated to Sergei Yesenin's works

The festival dedicated to the work of Sergei Yesenin started in Trivandrum, India. The large-scale cultural forum is held under the auspices of the Rossotrudnichestvo representative office; its program is designed for three months. The festival is timed to the anniversary of the famous Russian poet, the Sergei Yesenin Museum writes on its Facebook page.

The cycle of events was opened by an exhibition of photographs. It started working last week. The exposition includes over a hundred photographs. They depict the main events of the poet's life, portraits of his friends and relatives, moments of his last days.

Many famous scientists, leading specialists of Indian universities, spoke during a seminar. According to the chairman of the Literary Club of the Russian Cultural Center Pradeep Panango, Yesenin left an indelible mark not only in Russian, but also in world poetry.

Honorary Consul of the Russian Federation, Director of the Russian Cultural Center in Trivandrum Ratish K. Nair compared Sergei Yesenin with his contemporaries - Mayakovsky and Gorky.

Svetlana Shetrakova, who heads the Yesenin Museum in the Russian capital, spoke at the webinar. She shared interesting facts from the biography of the poet and talked about the work of the museum.

Among the participants in the webinar were Achala Mulik, former Secretary of the Government of India for Education, writer and Yesenin Prize laureate, Professor Govindan Nair, former Head of the Department of Russian Language at Kerala University and Pushkin Medal laureate, poet Rosa Mary, Yesenin Prize laureate.
