Post-registration clinical trials of the Sputnik V vaccine are going to be completed by early spring, TASS reports.

To date, 3,000 volunteers have already been vaccinated. Head of the Laboratory of Molecular Biotechnology at the Gamaleya Center, Doctor of Biological Sciences Maxim Shmarov, recalled that in total 40,000 people take part in the research, 23 clinical bases are involved.

As the specialist noted, the study would help assess not only the adverse events and immunogenicity of the drug, but also its epidemiological efficacy.

As Russkiy Mir reported, Belarus received the first batch of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine. The country became the first in the world to start clinical trials of the drug after it was registered in the Russian Federation.

The Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) explained that the fund allocated funds for research in Belarus. One hundred people will take part in them. The same tests will take place in Brazil, India, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates.
