Children from Russian-speaking families in Latvia are invited to the online school of St. Petersburg State University (SPbU). This is the 3rd time that students are being recruited,  Gorod.lv reports.

The educational project of one of the leading Russian universities knows no equals. Schoolchildren from abroad get the opportunity to study according to the program of the final class of a Russian school. Leading teachers of the higher educational institution work with them. Moreover, the lessons are free.

The number of participants is growing every year. If for the first time only schoolchildren from Latvia were recruited, then already in the second season children from Estonia, Spain and Kazakhstan joined them. In total, the number of pupils of the online school exceeded 200 people.

The SPbSU project was launched in 2018. It is aimed at promoting the Russian language abroad, as well as increasing the popularity of Russian higher education.

Initially, classes were conducted in the Russian language, Russian literature and Russian history. In the new season it will be possible to study mathematics, geography and social studies. Students who complete the course receive a certificate. It makes it possible to get additional points when applying to SPbU.

Most of the course participants study in the final grades, but the organizers decided not to limit the age of students.

In an online school, one can independently regulate the learning process, choose the necessary subjects and draw up a convenient schedule from anywhere in the world.
