The "Youth and Veterans: Shared Memory of Victory" conference was held on the online platform of the Russian Center for Science and Culture (RCSC) in Paris on the initiative of students from Moscow schools. It allowed schoolchildren from Russia and France to talk with veterans of the Great Patriotic War and the descendants of the pilots of the legendary Normandie-Niemen air regiment, which became a symbol of the military brotherhood of Soviet and French servicemen, the Rossotrudnichestvo website reports.

The meeting was attended by Nikolai Antoshkin, Hero of the Soviet Union, representatives of the French diplomatic mission in Russia and the Normandie-Niemen association, the daughter of the commander of the air regiment Helene Puyad, the son of the hero of the Normandie-Niemen air regiment Hervé Pierrot, as well as students of two Moscow schools and a school at the Russian Embassy.

This year, France has celebrated a double anniversary - the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II and the 75th anniversary of the pilots' arrival home on planes donated by the Soviet Union.

The meeting participants discussed the future monument to the heroes of the French air regiment, which was planned to be installed in Russia and France. The meeting participants approved the presented model of the monument.
