Russian Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina Pyotr Ivantsov thanked the leadership of the University of East Sarajevo (UES) for their attention to the study of the Russian language. During the meeting of the diplomat with the rector of the university, Milan Kulich, the parties discussed the expansion of cooperation with Russian scientists, universities and public organizations, the Rossiyskaya Gazeta newspaper reports.

The interaction of the UES with Russian colleagues can already be called intensive. Cooperation agreements link the university with 11 universities from Russia; in the past three years, over 200 teachers and students from the UES have been able to visit Russia, and return visits are also taking place.

The Russian Language, Literature and International Relations program, launched at the university, also contributes to the development of bilateral relations. According to Milan Kulich, UES is interested in expanding and deepening cooperation with Russia, since they see this as a platform for the development of the university. The rector of the university assured that he supports "any initiative to popularize and disseminate the Russian language in the Republic of Srpska."
