The solemn ceremony of unveiling a monument at the mass grave of Soviet soldiers took place in the German city of Fürstenwald. It took place the day before, on September 1, according to the website of the World Coordination Council of Russian Compatriots.

The War Memorial was opened after the completion of large-scale repairs and restoration work. More than 500 people are buried at this place. Soviet soldiers and officers were killed in the spring of 1945, during the Berlin offensive.

The monument at the mass grave was erected about 40 years ago. The monument, made of concrete, is surrounded by gravestones on both sides, with the names of the victims carved on them. On the right side of the grave there is a monument to German anti-fascists who died during the war.

Flowers were brought to the monument by Russian diplomats and representatives of the local administration.
