Scientists and students of the Higher School of Economics (HSE) will study fiction texts using computer techniques in order to explain the power of a poetic text and its impact on the reader. The texts of the classics of Russian and world poetry (Pushkin, Blok, Shakespeare, Goethe and others) in nine languages will be subjected to research, Moskva.ru reports.

Scientists intend to create new software with which it will be possible to compare texts and simulate the processes of their creation and perception.

According to the project participants, its goal is to understand the peculiarities of creating poetry and their impact on the reader. To do this, scientists will analyze the origins of the great poets, reconstructing the deep processes of creating poetry, and study the impact of poetry on a person.

Research in this area began five years ago; specialists from various educational centers in Russia and the world will join them. The project team is considering the possibility of opening an international computer center for the study of literary text.
