The World Bank has included Russia in the top ten countries from all over the world, which have demonstrated the best indicators of human capital development over the past decade. A special breakthrough has been achieved in the field of healthcare and education, TASS reports.

This is indicated by the new version of the Human Capital Index (HCI). It brings together information about education and health in 174 countries, where nearly one hundred percent of the world's population lives. The data cover the period ending in the spring of this year.

The World Bank explained that improvements in Russia primarily affect health indicators. In particular, the proportion of children who will live up to 5 years has increased. The share of fifteen-year-old children who will live to 60 years has also increased. In addition, stunting rates have decreased.

Russia, along with several other countries, showed the largest increase in the expected length of study in Europe and Central Asia.

Over the past decade, Russia has achieved a reduction in mortality among adults. But the absolute values of this indicator in Russia remain rather high. The progress made in this regard has been threatened by the coronavirus pandemic.
