Russian stage of Formula 1 opens in Sochi for 7th time

The Grand Prix of the most popular Formula 1 car races in the world will be held in Sochi for the 7th time, the stage began on September 25 and will last three days. The Russian stage will be the 10th this season. The races will gather about 30,000 spectators, all tickets for the races have been sold, TASS reports.

Free races opened on Friday at Sochi-Autodrom, built among the facilities of the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics. Qualifications will take place on Saturday, which will determine the places of the pilots at the start of the main race, scheduled for Sunday, September 27.

Lewis Hamilton, who won four Russian Grand Prix victories, can call the Sochi track lucky. He has a chance to continue the series of victories now, since he is the leader of the current championship. The Russian stage this time is special for Hamilton - the victory will allow him to repeat the record of racing legend Michael Schumacher.
