A year of mutual exchanges between Russia and South Korea will certainly take place as soon as the epidemiological situation returns to normal, Russian President Vladimir Putin assured. This is stated in a message to his Korean counterpart Moon Jae Inu. The Russian leader congratulated the head of state on the anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. This year they will turn 30, the Kremlin website reports.

Vladimir Putin expressed regret that to date, restrictions aimed at countering the spread of coronavirus infection are hampering the planned program.

The Year of Mutual Exchanges with South Korea is aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between the countries. The countries intend to jointly promote more than a dozen programs. South Korea has planned more than 160 events, Russia - 180. The project will provide an opportunity to deepen bilateral cooperation. If the interaction between the two countries previously took place mostly in the economic sphere, now it will spread to culture, art and youth exchanges.

In his congratulations, Vladimir Putin noted that the two countries have accumulated vast experience of cooperation in all areas. In particular, inter-parliamentary dialogue and inter-regional cooperation are actively developing.
