A memorial plaque in honor of the Soviet people who died during the Great Patriotic War appeared in Clausthal-Zellerfeld (Lower Saxony, Germany). The Embassy of the Russian Federation in Germany reported this on its Facebook page.

Representatives of the city and district administration took part in the opening ceremony of the memorial sign. Russia was represented by the head of the representative office of the Ministry of Defense. They were joined by students from the local school who developed the text carved on the plaque.

The remains of almost 150 people are buried at the cemetery. Most of the buried were forcibly taken to Germany and died as a result of dangerous work carried out at the Werk Tanne ammunition factory and an air raid on October 7, 1944. The concentration camp prisoners were shot at a place called Hirschler Brinks.
