Representatives of the Russian Center for Science and Culture (RCSC) in Nicosia and the University of Cyprus, which is considered the country's leading university, signed a memorandum of cooperation in the educational and cultural fields. The parties intend to organize exchanges of students and teachers between the countries and conduct joint cultural events, TASS reports.

The head of the RCSC Alina Radchenko said that the agreement provided new opportunities for promoting the Russian language in Cyprus as a language of scientific and educational communication between scientists, teachers and students of the two countries.

According to the rector of the University of Cyprus Tassos Christofides, the agreement outlined cooperation between the university and the RCSC in many areas, including educational, scientific and cultural. In particular, the visits of authoritative Russian scientists are expected in Cyprus.

The rector stressed that within the framework of cooperation, it is possible for Cypriot scientists to participate in projects of the RCSC and other Russian institutions. Also, the memorandum will provide new opportunities for scientific work for Cypriot scientists conducting research related to Russia.
