Marc Chagall exhibition opened in Italy

The My Russia Will Love Me Back exhibition has started working in Rovigo (Italy), Kultura TV channel reports. It is dedicated to the work of Marc Chagall. The exposition is located in the Roverella Palace.

The granddaughter of the artist Meret Meyer was present at the opening of the exhibition. According to her, the project is dedicated to the study of the role of mythological images in Chagall's work. She notes that the artist often painted birds - roosters and sirins, the influence of icons and popular prints is also noticeable in his works.

The curators are sure that the result of this research-exhibition will be a new interpretation of Marc Chagall's work.

The artist was born in Vitebsk (Belarussia), which was then part of the Russian Empire. He graduated from art school there, then studied in St. Petersburg, and continued his art education in Paris. Later, he returned to Russia and worked in Moscow. 

Today, Chagall's style is recognizable all over the world, collectors hunt for his paintings, the most famous museums in the world are proud of the artist's works, and murals and stained-glass windows adorn famous buildings.
