Scientists from Russia, China and India have advanced the development of materials to create low-cost hydrogen fuel cells that are more efficient and environmentally friendly than traditional batteries. According to the developers, the atmospheric emissions of fuel cells will be limited to water and steam, RIA Novosti reports.

In the international group, Russia is represented by specialists from Samara universities and Moscow scientists. According to the Russian project participants, such elements are used in the aviation and space spheres, as well as in industrial production.

These elements have a range of properties required for these areas, but are very expensive due to the use of platinum. The joint development of Russia, China and India is associated with the use of cheaper, but no less effective elements.

The project is designed for three years, research is carried out with a grant from the Russian Foundation for Basic Research within the BRICS with funding of up to 5 million rubles annually. The current and the next years were declared the Years of Scientific and Technical Cooperation between Russia and China.
