Putin to head Russian delegation at 75th session of UN General Assembly

Russian President Vladimir Putin will lead the Russian delegation at the 75th session of the UN General Assembly. He will speak at the meeting via videoconference, TASS reports. After the completion of his speech, the head of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov will take the place of the head of the delegation.

According to the press secretary of the head of state Dmitry Peskov, Vladimir Putin is not expected to visit New York. He recalled that the epidemiological situation remained difficult across the ocean.

The focus of the Russian leader's speech will be on the unprecedented global challenge facing the entire world due to the coronavirus epidemic. The President  will also touch on many complicated issues exacerbated by the virus.

Vladimir Putin's speech at the UN is scheduled for September 22. The leaders of Brazil, the USA, Turkey, China, Chile, Cuba, Iran and France will perform with him on this day. This year's High Level Week will run from 22 to 29 September, mostly online.
