The representation of Russia in the prestigious international ranking, according to the British magazine Times Higher Education (THE), increased by nine universities over the year and amounted to 48 universities. The Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU) has established itself among the 200 best universities in the world, climbing 15 lines to 174th place, TASS reports.

The THE ranking included 1,527 universities from 93 countries. In addition to MSU, four more Russian universities showed growth, the overwhelming majority of the country's universities retained their previous positions. The top 300, apart from Moscow State University, included the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology and the Higher School of Economics.

According to the MSU rector Viktor Sadovnichy, the growth of the university in the list is facilitated by scientific and educational achievements, as well as the successful interaction of scientists, teachers and students.

The rector called the work on a multivalent vaccine and the development of the Lomonosov-2 supercomputer as the key factors for success.
