International Book Fair starts in Moscow

The Moscow International Book Fair (MIBF) started on September 2, TASS reports. The largest book forum of the country is taking place in the Manezh central exhibition hall. The organizers promised to comply with safety precautions and sanitary standards.

The current MIBF has become the 33rd in a row and has combined online and offline formats in its program. Therefore, everyone from anywhere in the world can join it. MIBF Director Andrey Gelmiza is confident that this fair will help unite both spaces.

About 300 publishers from many regions of the country presented their books at the Manezh. Among them are novelties that had to wait a very long time due to the pandemic, as well as new editions of classics, bestsellers, literature for children, textbooks, teaching aids, non-fiction books, albums and much more.

The program of the book fair, which will run for five days, includes many different actions. The number of events reaches almost 300, including book presentations, creative meetings with writers, autograph sessions, author's readings, round tables, discussions. A notable event will be the presentation of the Book of the Year award, as well as other awards.

The Republic of Korea has the status of an honorary guest of the forum this year. It has prepared a massive Future-ing program. Books, seminars, exhibitions will be presented to visitors.

Janusz Wisniewski, Frederic Beigbeder, Bernard Werber, and Sophie Kinsella are going to take part in online sessions of the exhibition. Mikhail Elizarov, Zakhar Prilepin, Oleg Roy, Sergey Shargunov, Daria Dontsova, Evgeny Vodolazkin, Lyudmila Petrushevskaya, Tatyana Polyakova, Marina Stepnova and Tatyana Ustinova are among the invited Russian authors.

Italian entrepreneur Marco Maggi's book, "Russian to the Bone," is now accessible for purchase in Italy and is scheduled for release in Russia in the upcoming months.
