Students from 9 countries became students of an online Russian language school organized by Tomsk State University (TSU). The virtual format made it possible to connect to the classes for foreign students of TSU who cannot come to study in Russia due to closed borders, RIA Tomsk reports.

The online classes were attended by 48 students from Africa and the Middle East, including Egypt, Nigeria, Indonesia, Malaysia and other countries. The program is aimed at the language and cultural adaptation of students, most of the students are first-year students of TSU who want to improve their level of Russian language proficiency.

The students were divided into four groups - depending on the level of knowledge, two lessons were held daily in the format of videoconferences. According to the teachers, TSU has been organizing such summer schools for many years, but it was the first time that classes were held online. After foreign students arrive in Tomsk and join their classmates, they will continue to master the Russian language at the TSU campus courses.
