The famous actor Gerard Depardieu confessed his love for Russians, RIA Novosti reports. He also really likes Russian culture in general, Russian literature and music. “At the same time, I know that this is a difficult country,” said Depardieu and added that he was not well acquainted with Russia.

The actor said that he did not want to see French President Emmanuel Macron, but he was received more than once by Russian President Vladimir Putin. He added that he even voted not in France, but in Russia.

At the end of 2012, Depardieu announced that he decided to renounce French citizenship after the head of the French government called his decision to change his place of residence "a miserable act worthy of contempt." The decree on the admission of Gerard Depardieu to Russian citizenship was signed by Putin in early 2013.
