Film about Academician Sakharov considered for Cannes Film Festival

The creators plan to show the feature film about Academician Sakharov at the Cannes Film Festival next year, TASS reports.

According to director Yuri Kara, who wants to start work on a large-scale project, it is expected that two premieres will take place simultaneously - the Russian and the world's one.

The script was based on one period of Sakharov's life. The authors used historical documents in their work. The filmmakers want to reveal the identity of the hero as a scientist and human rights activist.

The documentary devoted to Andrei Sakharov will be released next year. The work on the film is planned to be finished by the anniversary of the famous scientist, public figure, Nobel Peace Prize laureate. 2021 will mark 100 years since his birth.  The film will be based on memoirs of the scientist.

The anniversary of Andrei Sakharov will be celebrated at the state level.
