Residents and guests of Riga are invited to visit Nicholas Roerich's exhibition, Sputnik reports. It opened a few days ago at the Riga Bourse Museum. The works of Roerich, who became famous not only as a talented artist, but also as a scientist and public figure, entered the permanent exhibition. The opening ceremony of the exhibition was timed to coincide with the foundation day of the Riga Stock Exchange, which is celebrated on August 20.

The artist donated several of his paintings to the local Roerich society 100 years ago. For a long time, paintings were rarely taken out of the storerooms, since there was not enough exhibition space. Now visitors will be able to see about 20 works of Nicholas Roerich.

The presentation of the catalog prepared for another exhibition was timed to coincide with the opening day. It includes paintings by the famous Russian marine painter Ivan Aivazovsky. It took place last year, but the work on the catalog, published in Latvian, Russian and English, required additional time.

The museum stated that they have six works by Aivazovsky in their collection. Tallinn, Tartu, Narva and Odessa museums became the participants of the exhibition project. The number of visitors reached 45,000 people. Lectures, literary readings, and chamber concerts, which supplemented the exhibition project, were also popular among the visitors.
