Specialists from the Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU) have proposed a solution to prevent reinfection with COVID-19. The multivalent vaccine, developed at MSU, is expected to protect against all known coronaviruses and future threats, the Izvestia newspaper reports.

The possibility of re-infection with COVID-19 has become one of the most discussed problems by virologists. Experts say that a person who has recovered from coronavirus can become infected again, such cases have already been studied.

The drug developed at MSU may become the first vaccine in the world that will provide multifactorial protection and create buffer immunity. According to the chief developer, Olga Karpova, head of the Department of Virology at the Biological Faculty of MSU, the vaccine will contain a set of antigens, which makes it stand out from the number of drugs that are created around the world.

After conducting mouse experiments, scientists have reason to believe that the vaccine will provide protection against re-infection. Preclinical and clinical trials are to follow soon.
