Several Russian universities are planning to organize the distance learning training, TASS reports. Online education is necessary for students from abroad who will not be able to come to Russia by the start of the academic year.

Marina Nevskaya, who holds the post of Vice-Rector for International Affairs of the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, clarified that the university wants to organize one group for each cohort, which will study online. She is sure that among the current freshmen from other countries there will be many who will not be able to come to Russia. According to her, the distance groups will include not only foreigners, but also Russians who are unable to come to the university before classes begin. At the moment, the university is awaiting an order from the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation concerning the organization of the educational process.

Anastasia Minina from the St. Petersburg State Electrotechnical University, in turn, noted that it would be possible to come to Russia from other countries no earlier than the borders are open. And the educational process will begin on September 1 both offline and online.

The online training for students from abroad is organized at the Far Eastern, Kazan, and Baltic Federal Universities. They will be joined by Novosibirsk and Tyumen State Universities, Tomsk Polytechnic University.

In early summer, Minister of Higher Education and Science Valery Falkov promised that foreign students would be able to study remotely at Russian universities if the borders remained closed in the new academic year.
