The Russian capital took the 18th place in the international ranking of digital transformation of cities, compiled by the Tholons agency. The city improved its positions on a number of indicators and rised five lines in comparison with the previous rating, TASS reports.

The development of the digital sphere, the launch of electronic services and other innovations introduced in Moscow over the past years have placed the Russian capital on a par with the most progressive megacities in the world, such as Los Angeles, Seoul, Tokyo and others.

Moscow's growth in Tholons research shows the city's progress in the digital sphere. Three years ago, when the ratings were launched, the Russian capital ranked 38th in the list and in subsequent ratings showed a steady growth.

When compiling the rating, five indicators are taken into account: "Human capital", "Development of the business environment", "Costs and infrastructure", "Safety and quality of life" and "Digitalization and innovation".

Moscow showed growth by 1,5 times in the last indicator, which is considered the most important one. The city also showed significant improvement in the "Safety and Quality of Life" categories.
