The meeting of the Green Lamp literary club, opened in the House of Culture of the Russian-Lebanese Diaspora, was dedicated to Fyodor Dostoevsky. The club members got acquainted with some aspects of the life and work of the Russian writer and expressed their opinion about his works, according to the Russian in Lebanon Facebook page.

The meeting participants read excerpts from the works of Dostoevsky. They also listened to the report of the head of the club Natalia Sallum on the biography and the most significant works of the classic. After that, an exchange of views took place on the connection between Dostoevsky's texts and today's reality.

Natalya Semaan, a teacher of the Russian language courses at the Rossotrudnichestvo office in Beirut, told Russkiy Mir that children from Lebanon who study Russian take part in events dedicated to Alexander Pushkin and other Russian classics. Last year, a poetry competition in memory of Mikhail Lermontov was held in Lebanon, and a competition dedicated to Sergei Yesenin is planned for the current year.
