Young compatriots living in China are invited to join the new project. On Wednesday, July 29, the Book Club will open in Beijing. The project is being implemented by the Russian Cultural Center in Beijing, according to the website of the Moscow Compatriot House.

The main task of the club is to improve the level of proficiency in the Russian language by reading the works of both classics of world and national literature, and contemporary authors. Participants will meet interesting people and discover new books.

The meeting participants are going to discuss the book that was chosen three weeks before. Three best speakers will receive memorable gifts, and the rest of the guests will receive small souvenirs and tea.

The topic of the first meeting will be Woman in Dunes by Japanese playwright Kobo Abe. This is an allegory about the path of acquiring identity and personal freedom, raising the age-old philosophical questions about the interaction of masculine and feminine principles.
