The work on the cathedral mosque of Crimea in Simferopol will begin in September, TASS reports. According to Emil Yunusov, the chief architect and one of the authors of the project, Turkish specialists will work on the painting. The architect assured that they had great experience. It is planned that the painting will take almost four months. It will be made with natural dyes, also brought from Turkey.
To date, concrete work has already been completed, engineering networks have been installed, ventilation and a fire-fighting system are finished as well. Thye works are underway to finish the facade and the interior rooms, which will be decorated with marble.
The mosque will be the largest in Crimea and one of the largest in Eastern Europe. The project brings together different styles to convey the diversity of architectural trends that exist on the peninsula. Before starting work, the authors spent a lot of time in the archives, both in Russia and in Turkey. Some elements were borrowed from the Bakhchisarai Khan's palace.
Suras from the Koran, as well as national ornaments of the Crimean Tatars, will be painted on the walls of the mosque. Suras from the main book of Muslims will be lined with gold leaf on the domes.
A yellow tulip was chosen as the central element of the ornament. This was not done by chance, since the mosque will be named after Noman Chelebidzhikhan. The first mufti of Crimea was killed in 1918. He also became famous as a poet, one of his works was called "Yellow Tulip". Many of these flowers grow in the Crimean mountains and foothills.
A fountain of tears will also be placed next to the mosque - this is how Pushkin called the Bakhchisarai fountain. The new fountain will not repeat the legendary fountain in the Khan Palace, the architect assured.
Another element of decoration of the prayer hall will be a carpet. It is now being made in Istanbul. The area of the carpet will exceed 1,000 square meters.
