All Russians will be able to take advantage of the Far Eastern Hectare program in Buryatia and the Trans-Baikal Territory in a few days, RIA Novosti reports. Participants of the program for resettlement of compatriots from abroad will also be able to join them.

One can apply from the beginning of August. So far, only residents of the Far Eastern Federal District have this opportunity.

In Transbaikalia, the program is in great demand, since there is no buffer zone around Chita, the capital of the region. Therefore, people can get a land plot in half an hour's drive from the city center. Work is also underway to reduce the buffer zone around Ulan-Ude, the capital of Buryatia.

The Far Eastern Hectare program involves the provision of a land plot of up to one hectare to compatriots free of charge. During the first year of ownership of the site, the program participant must decide how it will be used, and after three years - submit a declaration for development. In five years, the allotment can be finally acquired or a long-term lease can be issued.

The program began operating in Buryatia and the Trans-Baikal Territory a year ago. This solution makes it possible to reduce the problem of the outflow of the local population. In addition, the program contributes to the involvement of unused land in the economic turnover.
