The old Russian holiday of Ivan Kupala was celebrated at the Sergiev Posad home for the elderly, built in Sydney by the Russian Charitable Society. The residents of Sergiev Posad were told about the traditions and rituals of the holiday, and learned how to weave wreaths and make flower compositions, the Edinenie newspaper reports.

The Sergiev Posad center regularly celebrates Russian holidays. The residents of the center are happy to join Russian traditions and gladly take part in festivals, excursions and performances.

The residents of the center listened to the stories about the traditions of the day and the belief of peasants in the miraculous power of nature, as well as pagan times in the history of Russia. They also weaved wreaths, made flower compositions and got acquainted with their role in Russian mythology and folklore.
