Foreigners invited to participate in international youth contest

The Higher School of Economics has opened online registration for the 8th International Youth Olympiad, which will take place from October 22 to 29. Foreign citizens and stateless persons - schoolchildren, students and university graduates under the age of 30 - can take part in competitions in almost two dozen disciplines. Foreigners living in Russia and students of foreign universities are also allowed to participate, according to the website of the World Coordination Council of Russian Compatriots.

The Olympiad events are planned to be held both offline and online, competitions will be held in English, mathematics, physics, world history, modern politics and many other disciplines. Anyone who meets these requirements will be able to take part in the Olympiad free of charge.

Participants must register before October 12, as part of the procedure, it is necessary to send a letter to the organizers in which they tell about themselves, their academic achievemnets and the reasons that prompted them to take part in the Olympiad. Webinars, which will be held in summer and early autumn, will help them prepare. Winners and awardees will be able to apply for free tuition at a Russian university within the quota allocated by the government; participants can be provided with scholarships and grants to reduce the cost of studying at HSE.
