SPbU's Japanese online course among top-20 in the world

The Japanese language course for beginners, developed at St. Petersburg State University (SPbSU), is among the 20 most popular online courses launched in July. The course has already been used by over 18,000 Internet users. The rating is compiled by the Class Central international platform, which is a guide to online courses, the university's website reports.

The Japanese for Beginners 1 is designed for a wide range of students, at the moment it is available for free in Russian and English. The drafters of the rating noted that the creators tried to connect the Japanese language with the mentality of the country's residents.

The course begins with the study of the Japanese alphabet, rules for reading and writing hieroglyphs, speech etiquette. The leading Japanese scholars from St. Petersburg State University and Russia participated in the preparation of the program; they became teachers for students of the course.
