Russian Ministry of Health approves new drug for COVID-19 treatment

The Russian Ministry of Health has approved a new drug for the treatment of coronavirus infection. A medicine called Coronavir is developed by R-PHARM, RIA Novosti reports.

The drug has become the third in a row accepted by the Ministry of Health. Previously, the agency allowed the use of Avifavir and Arelivir.

Coronavir can be used only in stationary conditions, it is prohibited in a number of conditions, including pregnancy and breastfeeding, in cases of renal and hepatic insufficiency, as well as in the treatment of minors.

It is reported that the medicine was registered according to the procedure in force in the face of the threat of emergence and liquidation of emergency situations. This means that when compiling the instruction, the amount of clinical data was limited, and it will be supplemented as information is received.

Russkiy Mir reported that many countries were interested in deliveries of Avifavir from Russia. The drug proved to be highly effective in the treatment of patients with COVID-19. Requests are made by European, Latin American countries, the CIS countries and Southeast Asia.
