Italian composer Ennio Morricone dies at 91

The famous Italian composer Ennio Morricone has passed away,  Interfax reports. He died on the night of July 6 in a Roman hospital. A few days 91-years old composer was hospitalized with a hip fracture. Ennio Moricone will be buried privately.

Both Soviet and Russian public admired the work of the composer. He himself admitted that he always felt the special attitude of the Russian public. “This is not my first visit to Russia, and I always feel very great interest from the audience, a sincere and open reaction,” the musician said when he came to Russia in 2012. Back then,  Morricone opened a tour dedicated to his 85th birthday on the stage of the State Kremlin Palace.

Morricone wrote soundtracks for almost 50 films, including Once Upon a Time in America, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, Malena, Decameron, Lolita, Kill Bill and many others. He also collaborated with Russian filmmakers - in particular, the composer wrote music for The Master and Margarita by Alexander Petrovich, and 72 Meters by Vladimir Khotinenko.
