About 145,000 Russians abroad voted on amendments to Constitution

About 145,000 Russians took part in the vote on constitutional amendments abroad, TASS reports. According to the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, even restrictive measures aimed at countering the spread of the pandemic could not interfere with the voting.

More than 250 polling stations were opened in 140 countries. Ambassadors, consuls general and other senior diplomats headed the election comissions. The representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that this proved the importance and relevance of the task. Maria Zakharova added that the Foreign Ministry paid special attention to the organization of voting.

According to Russian diplomats in different countries, the vote went smoothly, without unpleasant incidents. The organizers took all necessary safety measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus infection.
