The center of Russian education and culture began to operate in Turkey, the website of the Moscow House of Compatriots reports. It was opened in Izmir under the RUSDER Association.

According to Marina Sorokina, who heads the Coordinating Council of Organizations of Russian Compatriots in Turkey, she is very pleased that immigrants from Russia, even staying far beyond the borders of their native country, try not to forget their roots. The Russian-speaking community is consolidating, new public organizations are emerging. The preservation of historical memory, the popularization of the study of the Russian language, the promotion of national culture and national traditions remain among the key tasks.

By acquainting the local population with these cultural riches, compatriots strengthen friendship ties between the two countries. Sorokina noted that this way adults serve as a good example for the younger generation, which gives hope for the continuation of the work they started.
