Day of Family, Love and Faithfulness was celebrated by Russian compatriots in London, the Rossotrudnichestvo website reports. The event was held at the Russian Znanie school. The school organizes a holiday every year, but this year the traditional event had to be abandoned due to restrictions aimed at counteracting the spread of coronavirus infection.

About 40 families took part in an online celebration. They live in different countries around the world: Russia, Israel, Germany, Azerbaijan and other states.

An important part of the holiday is the presentation of the For Love and Fidelity award. It is received by couples whose experience in family life exceeds 25 years. This year,  it went to the Hashimi family. Four days later, they will celebrate the 29th anniversary of their marriage.

Young participants in the meeting spoke about their families and traditions. They shared recipes of their favorite national dishes and told how the holidays were celebrated. One of the goals of the action is the language exchange and the opportunity to practice speaking skills, so students from the UK spoke Russian and students from Russia spoke English.

The Day of Family, Love and Faithfulness was established in Russia at the beginning of the 2000s. The holiday is already celebrated in Bulgaria, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Germany, Great Britain, France and other countries.
