More than a billion malicious attacks on the Russian critical infrastructure have occurred since the beginning of this year. This was stated by the special representative of the President of the Russian Federation on international cooperation in the field of information security, the head of the department of international information security of the Russian Foreign Ministry Andrei Krutskikh, the Mezhdunarodnaya Zhizn magazine writes.

According to the expert, cases of coordinated targeted computer attacks have become much more common. Their number in 2020 has already exceeded 12,000. They were aimed at authorities, banks, enterprises of the military-industrial complex, the infrastructure of educational, scientific and other equally important areas.

The senior diplomat stressed the great danger posed by these computer attacks. They are aimed at objects that ensure the daily activities of society and the state, and the safety of people. Possible real conflicts that may occur as a result of these attacks pose even a greater problem.

The representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that Moscow once again appealed to begin cooperation in the international arena, directing it to counter the terrorist threat. The need for this is more acute in the digital age. “This problem is not just criminal, it is also a political problem. Such actions pose a threat to violation of the sovereignty of states and interference in their internal affairs, ”concluded Andrey Krutskikh.
