The Ministry of Higher Education and Science has decided to extend the admission campaign, the Russia.study website reports. The department noted that the reason for this decision was an unfavorable epidemiological situation due to the progress of coronavirus infection. Last summer it was possible to apply to higher education institutions in Russia until July 26. The current campaign will end on August 18.

The Ministry of Education and Science reminded that they planned to start the next school year on September 1, as it always started on this date.

Applicants from abroad who speak Russian, and want to enroll in basic educational programs, can also send documents before August 18.

For applicants who do not speak Russian, the deadlines for submitting documents will be extended until the beginning of September. Classes for students of the preparatory faculty will begin, as usual, from October as training groups form.

Entrance exams, like the portfolio contest, will be conducted remotely by most universities. This means that applicants do not need to specially come to Russia, this will give them the opportunity to save time and money.

Today, classes at Russian universities are still taking place online, but they will get back to the usual mode the next academic year.

For foreign students studying in Russia, study visas will be extended free of charge for up to 90 days. It will be possible to extend the visa repeatedly. In addition, in the near future, the Russian Ministry of Education and Science will organize advisory assistance to foreign students on visa issues and training during the coronavirus period.
