Spanish astronaut named Russian space industry experts best in the world

Russian experts working in the field of space exploration remain among the best in the world, the Spanish Minister of Science and Innovation Pedro Duque is sure. According to him, he himself is an eyewitness to the successes of the national space program, TASS reports.

Pedro Duque is the first Spaniard to be in orbit. In 1998, he flew on the Discovery shuttle. Five years later, his second flight took place, already on the Russian Soyuz TMA-3 ship. The Russian authorities awarded him the Order of Friendship.

The astronaut, who took his post as head of the department two years ago, praised the Russian science as a whole, and in particular the successes in space exploration. He added that he had maintained ties with employees of the Energia Corporation at the Zvezda enterprise, and recalled his Russian colleagues among space explorers.

The Spanish minister noted that cooperation continues between the European Space Agency (ESA) and the Roskosmos Corporation. Among the participants there are representatives of Spain - scientists, enterprises. The cooperation in the field of manned flights and a joint scientific mission on Mars (ExoMars) is especially active.
