Compatriots in different countries start to celebrate Russia Day

Russian compatriots living in different countries join the celebration of Russia Day. Despite the fact that quarantine restrictions aimed at combating the spread of coronavirus infection have not been lifted everywhere yet, various actions and events are planned. Many of them are held online. 

In Turkey, the festive week began with a workshop on Russian traditional ornament and the Golden Ring of Russia photo exhibition. The start of the Russian Cuisine culinary project was timed to the holiday. The lecture "Day of Russia" will be held on June 11. The results of the international festival video essay will be announced on June 12.

A festive event in Burgas (Bulgaria) took place at the monument to Soviet soldiers-liberators. It included a concert and a tasting of dishes of traditional Russian cuisine. The organizers reminded the guests of the need to comply with sanitary standards.

In the UK, everyone was invited to post a Russian tricolor in their window, take a photo and post it on social networks. The British branch of the Victory Volunteers movement, the Russian embassy and the Rossotrudnichestvo representative office offered to congratulate Russia on the holiday this way.

On June 12, the Russian compatriots living in Canada will take part in the All-Canada online teleconference. Its participants will read Pushkin's works, as well as listen to reports on the history and culture of Russia. The event is organized by the Russian Heritage. Within its framework, participants will see creative performances by Russian-speaking artists, listen to lectures about Russian history and take part in a quiz. 

The Russia and I flash mob is launched in Greece. Everyone who has ever visited Russia is invited to recall the highlights of their trip or stay and publish photos related to the on social networks. The most active participants will be presented with gift baskets with Russian symbols. The flash mob will last until the end of June. 

The festival, dedicated to the Day of Russia, takes place on Cyprus. Its events cover Nicosia, Larnaca and Limassol. A wide online program was timed to the holiday.
