Russian Language Day celebrated in different countries

Compatriots in different countries of the world celebrated the Russian Language Day, which is timed to coincide with Alexander Pushkin's birthday.

The ceremony was held in the Ukrainian capital, it was organized by the representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo in Kiev. Flowers to the monument to the great poet were brought by veterans, public figures, intelligentsia, students of city schools and students. The monument was erected in a park named after the poet. 

Russian Language Day was celebrated in Abkhazia. Pupils of one of the Sukhumi schools, which bears the name of the poet, Russian compatriots and diplomats laid flowers at the monument to Pushkin. The Abkhaz poet Mushni Lasuria also spoke at the event. The Russian Embassy called the promotion of the Russian language one of the key tools to strengthen cooperation, which connects Russia not only with Abkhazia, but also with other countries.

Pushkin’s birthday in Washington was celebrated together by Russian and Ethiopian ambassadors. Anatoly Antonov and Fitsum Arega brought flowers to the poet's monument to the poet, which is located on hte territory of the Washington University. The Ambassador of the Russian Federation drew attention to the fact that the ceremony is being held in quarantine. Quarantine was also in Pushkin’s life, this period, known under the Boldinskaya Autumn name became unusually productive for the poet.

According to the Ambassador of Ethiopia, the Pushkin genius is very honored in his country. His poems are well known, Fitsum Arega assured.

The festive ceremony took place in Zagreb, where compatriots and locals joined Russian diplomats. The main events were organized at the monument to Alexander Pushkin in the capital's Bundek park.
